They ended on Ushio dying, which is a huge kick in the feels, then next ep 'Oh look, everyone's happy now'. Also, concerning your whole idea of Clannad not being good enough if Nagisa and Ushio were saved on the spot, wasn't that the reason why the ending was so utterly shit? I mean, it was a huge deus ex machina. It was meant to be the ultimate proof of their growth. But part of the True Ending is that whole idea of proving Kyousuke wrong. He didn't think his plan would be good enough to make the two that strong. The only reason he brushed it aside was because he didn't think they'd be able to get that strong. If you play through Episode: Kyousuke once again in the VN, he wishes that Riki and Rin would get strong enough to save everyone from the bus. Just enjoy it for what it is, and if you don't like it.well just read the VN. It's the same with you guys being overly critical with the adaption. So who am I to judge?īasically people need to chill out around here lawl. And like said even if I think it's a terrible ending, other people do indeed like it.
Therefore yeah it's kind of pointless to argue about. We can argue about subjective stuff all we want, but it really comes down to if it personally bothers a person or not.
Though like you said, it doesn't bother everyone. Obviously not everyone has a problem with that, but hey clannad could have pleased even more of it's watchers if it didn't have such a pathetic excuse for an ending. I don't see a problem with a "dues ex Machina" Ending, If ppl hated it, then why would Clannad be so popular when they had one of those endings.īecause it's lazy writing mainly. I do agree with you that Kyousuke´s plan was just to get the two idiots out of the artificial world, at the end of Refrain he even said:Ĭlannad had a deus ex machina ending, but you do not see it having such a low score? Look how popular Clannad was, who gives a FUCK about a deus ex machina ending.
Well well, for someone who gave Clannad a 10, you have alot of stupid stuff to say about it. I'm more annoyed at the fact that Riki fell asleep right by the fucking bus and then Komari's goodbye got shortened. made the entirely right choice here, but I see the logic. were having at that point was 'We need to make this ending feel satisifying rather than a cop-out' which it certainly feels like with the normal end in tact. I would've rather they concluded with the bad end then do it this way. You can argue all you want that this is a nice ending without KEY magic to undo the bad ending, but now the emotions of the show are so conflicted with there never being a tragic end to be built up to. Kengo calling out to Masato as they both held onto Rin and Riki.Īnd judging from how they showed Riki going back to his birth in the season 1 opening, they'll likely show Riki getting over his narcolepsy next episode.īut seriously, what's the point of his narcolepsy never caused relevant issues in the real world? It wasn't even properly prevalent in Rin's arc. He just panicked and ran away and then ran back.Īll that buildup in the beginning of the episode was going great. Riki is also a bipolar wuss in this episode, and didn't even mention his narcolepsy. JC Staff is making that shit the only ending for the anime. The Deus Ex Machina ending was a fanservice ending. Kyousuke's sacrifice is just gone entirely now, and there's no buildup of emotion from everything the dream world built up to. Now you just have one story ending that built up to nothing, where before you at least had the normal/bad end that stuck to its themes to the end, and didn't lie with the whole "You can't save us" part of the story. Doing the deus ex machina wouldn't be as bad as not having the bad end in the first place.
